What are double ended dreads (DE dreads)? DE or double ended is the term used when describing synthetic dreadlock extensions. These are braided into your natural hair so that it leaves two ends to each extension when finished. Synthetic dreadlocks are usually made with 100% Kanekalon fiber. These are handmade by backcombing and steaming the synthetic fiber. Or you can buy them ready made. I buy mine from here www.afrocare.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=2782&substring=Synthetic dreadlocks stand up very well to every day wear, you may find they go a little bit fuzzy after a week or two, but i find that this helps them look more natural! If you dont like this you can trim the little hairs off. DE's usually take about 2 hours to put in, but can take longer depending on who is doing it. You can put them in your self but you might end up with a very sore arm and have difficulty putting them in the back of your head. Synth dreads can last anything from a few days to about 2 months this seems to be the upper limit if you leave them in too long your natural hair can dread in to them and it can become painfull when removing them. Synth dreads can be washed and resealed once removed then stored for future use.
